BI Spider
BI SPIDER
Spider.Net add-on module designed for business intelligence
BI (Business Intelligence) is the art of gaining business advantage using the data held. BI is the collective name for the group of tools and applications that enable the collection, analysis, distribution, and action using business information, in order to make better business decisions.
In current conditions where there is dynamic change, almost any important business branch, that is - almost every important organization, on a global level, uses BI to manage business activities. BI allows us to plan our budget, to control costs, to learn how to acquire new clients and to understand how to retain existing ones.
Despite the obvious differences in business processes and structure between the types of documents that users of our systems create, store and search, what is common for all organizations is the need for the information held in such documents to be available as soon as possible. Also, very often heads of organizational units or managers need to be allowed access to the influx and flow of documents into individual business processes, as well as in the frequency of searches of certain types of documents, which could possibly lead to useful information.
Although our original DM systems offer users the ability to generate some basic reports, we estimated that our clients need to be provided with a functionality that is to give a new dimension to the standard practice of using the Spider.Net application. This brought forth a new module: BI Spider.Net.
Bearing in mind the contemporary trends and our clients’ needs, we estimated that the means of storing data in Spider.Net is very suitable for the application of analytical methods which are the basis of BI solutions.
The basic concept of the Spider.Net DM system is designed in such a way that it allows all users to organize electronic archives and define business processes in the exact way that suits the given environment. This, as well as the fact that all activities of the defined users and user profiles are recorded within the system, is exactly why after a relatively short period of use, the database becomes a great source of useful information, very suitable for BI analysis.
BI Spider, using the documents stored in Spider DMS, enables managers to obtain information about their business that are otherwise unavailable to them (analysis of business efficiency, determining key costs, analysis of customer and supplier behavior, analysis of customers which create business results, reviewing of individual market segments, analysis of management efficiency, easier predictions of future trends). A good basis in the form of relevant data is a result of a pre-established connection between the types of documents (with all their annotations) and their corresponding electronic documents (files) and partners who are linked to the given document. All this, regardless of the number and character of the types of documents which the user defines, enables the generation of a series of reports that can provide the necessary information, and therefore the appropriate action to be taken in order to optimize business processes or to address encountered inconsistencies and problems.
